Healthcare

Power, cooling, nurse call and water systems for buildings that cannot switch off, with ten hospitals in our reference list and Bangkok Christian Hospital on site now.

Ten hospitals, most of them in Bangkok

SECCO's reference list includes ten hospitals, most of them in Bangkok. Phayathai Hospital in Bang Khae, Piyavate Hospital, Samitivej Hospital, Sirinthorn Hospital, Vibhavadi Hospital and Vichaiyuth Hospital are all in the capital, and the list also names Photharam Hospital in Ratchaburi, Central General Hospital and Nakornthon Hospital.

One is on site now: Bangkok Christian Hospital.

Healthcare is one of the industries SECCO serves. Its mechanical engineers tailor chilled-water, piping and ductwork systems to medical, factory and high-rise buildings, and nurse call, paging and sound systems are part of its electrical scope.

What a hospital asks of its systems

Clinical spaces, patients who cannot leave and equipment that must not stop set a hospital apart from other buildings. These are the demands that shape its engineering.

Air for clinical spaces

Operating theatres, isolation rooms and laboratories each need their own temperature, filtration and pressure, and wards need fresh air day and night.

  • Dedicated air handling with high-grade filtration for operating theatres
  • Positive or negative room pressure to keep contamination in or out
  • More fresh air and air changes than an office or hotel needs
  • Humidity control for sensitive rooms and equipment

Power that does not stop

Patients on life support and surgery in progress cannot wait for the supply to come back.

  • Dual supply feeds and standby generators
  • UPS for critical care, theatres and IT
  • Emergency lighting for escape routes and clinical areas
  • Building automation that monitors plant and alarms around the clock

Calls, alarms and communication

Patients must be able to reach a nurse, and staff must be able to find each other and move people safely in an emergency.

  • Nurse call at every bed and bathroom
  • Paging and public address
  • Fire alarm zoned for patients who cannot leave on their own
  • Data networks for records, imaging and monitoring

Water and fire protection

Hospitals use water for care, sterilisation and cooling, and many patients cannot evacuate quickly in a fire.

  • Treated water for clinical use and sterilisation
  • Storage and pumping that hold pressure through a supply failure
  • Waste-water treatment before discharge
  • Sprinklers throughout, and clean-agent suppression for equipment rooms
