Education

Cooling, networks, water and fire systems for campuses that run long days and full terms, with six education projects in our reference list.

University buildings, schools and a research institute

SECCO's reference list includes six education projects: Bangkok University Rangsit Campus (Buildings 1-6), Chulalongkorn University Faculty of Science on Phaya Thai Road, the Chulabhorn Research Institute on Kamphaeng Phet 6 Road, Mahidol University International School in Nakhon Pathom, ORB International School and RIS International School, Art Building.

Education is one of the industries SECCO serves. The company offers MEP as a one-stop service, from the electricity supply to the chilled-water supply, including ELV and back-up systems.

For owners who carry the running costs, SECCO's scope also includes energy management systems, ice bank storage, energy retrofits and value engineering for the budget.

What a campus asks of its systems

Schools and universities fill and empty to a timetable, spread across many buildings and hold large numbers of young people. These are the demands that shape their engineering.

Cooling that follows the timetable

Classrooms, lecture halls and libraries fill at set hours, and many rooms stand empty at weekends and in the holidays.

  • Zoned systems that cool only the rooms in use
  • Central chilled water on large campuses, VRV or split systems in smaller buildings
  • Fresh air for crowded classrooms and halls
  • Controls that follow the teaching timetable

Networks, sound and teaching spaces

Teaching depends on data networks and audio-visual equipment, and large halls need clear sound.

  • Structured cabling and data networks across the campus
  • Audio-visual systems for lecture halls and auditoriums
  • Public address and paging
  • Security for buildings and grounds

Safety for large numbers of people

A campus must be able to warn many people at once and move them out quickly.

  • Fire alarm and evacuation announcements in every building
  • Sprinklers where the building type and height require them
  • Emergency lighting on escape routes
  • Lightning protection for tall buildings and open grounds

Water and running costs

Water and energy use spread across many buildings, and the owner pays the bills for decades.

  • Water storage, pumping and distribution between buildings
  • Filtration and treatment for swimming pools
  • Energy management and metering by building
  • Plant chosen on whole-life cost, not only first cost
